Almost a new year

Mika became our cross country runner and ended the season 14th out of 170 runners, GO MIKA!!!!!!!!! She has adopted a love for music, piano, guitar, and clarinet.
Markus continues to love art and reading.
Ali is a big girl now, well that's what she thinks. She throws trash away in the trash can and climbs into her highchair. She even sweeps.
Chris is becoming a Kun Fu fighter; he doesn't know his own strength anymore.
Momma went from Drill Team to Soccer/Volleyball Coach.

Where did the time go?

You would think being at home all summer long I would have had time to blog. Hmmm. Well, you are wrong.
I worked in my garden all summer long. We went to Colorado. We spent almost every morning at the pool. I started a rock garden and yes, I am growing rocks. They seem to pollinate all by themselves.
Mika took piano lessons and we moved furniture around. Ali continues to be a picky eater and is reaching her terrible 2s.
Markus continues to beat all his videogames within 1 week and I am still unpacking. Do I have junk? Yes and when I find it, it goes in the trash or a give away bag.
And another school year begins...

School's out for Summer

I would post a picture, but I'm too busy itching from all the mosquito bites I've received since Monday. The one thing I hate about summer is the Texas Bugs. Maybe if I would stay out of the yard, stop digging in dirt, stop pulling weeds, and stop carrying rocks I would be okay. Markus has been in cub scout camp and will finish up on Friday. Mika has been a great sitter and helper! Next week, Mika will go off to camp; it will be her 1st year with Young Women's Camp. Mika will start piano lessons again on Wednesday. The summer is off to a great start. Let's see ... how many bug bites will I have in August?

The nasty thing they call ...

TAKS.
Markus did very well on his TAKS. He was Commended on Reading, Math, and Writing. He loves to read and write.
Mika was Commended on Math.

Ti fai male

Boo Boo is known for being clumsy. It doesn't matter what I do or say, she always gets her way. She is a WATKINS and she is just over 1 year. She was dancing in the kitchen and grabbed the chair. The chair came down right on her, luckily the ice and prayers made the horn on her forehead shrink.

Veggie Tales

If my veggies could speak, they would be saying "basta with the rain". Lack of sun has caused mushrooms and mold to grow on and around them. Yesterday morning, I had some oatmeal with my very own home grown blackberries, it was very tasty.

Almost summer

I’ve bought the pots, chosen the soil and fertilizer. I do hope my garden thrives. Since we have beans, I didn’t bother to plant anymore. We have tomatoes, bell peppers (three different kinds), chili peppers, okra, squash, zucchini, and carrots. I may even plant corn. I brought some banana plants from my parent’s home and I’m determined to have bananas, with miracle grow. Oh! I almost forgot; I did plant blackberry bushes and we have berries growing!!
As far as flowers, I have gladiolas, marigolds, wildflower mix, begonias, and moss rose. I will plant more as soon as I get a chance.
Who knew living in a new house would be so much work? Time to get to bed… I did plant more banana plants tonight, hasta.

United again

Ali thought she would never see her sister again. The two were united after a long journey. Words cannot express Ali's thoughts and feelings. They spent the weekend laughing, running, playing, and hugging. Ali cried as I carried her away into the truck.

Trip to Katy

With all the hoop-la settling, we finally took a trip down south. We packed up the frijoles and Rosie. We went to visit the Katians. Saturday was a surprise because it was quite chilly. As you can see, the wagon was loaded with blankets and Ali was trying to keep warm. This was our big day. We went to Fulshear to see the Bluebonnets. It was estupendo! We even hunted for eggs.

La Casa

As you can see, we have not done much as far as decor. I am hoping with Spring Break I can finish unpacking and rearrange some picture frames. I am not sure how to decorate the large window which of course takes up the entire wall so if you have any suggestions, I'm open. I do plan on painting but it won't get done till the summer. I'm thinking of a Fools Rush In look; Chris may not recognize the house when he walks in.

Finally!!

Yes, we did get moved into our beautiful home. We closed at 930 on a Friday nite. However, things do seem to go wrong. It took awhile to get a phone line and internet. We haven't rented our ole house yet. Our computers crashed, yes both of them the Mac and Dell. Our power was shut off by mistake. Rosie was so excited, she lifted the sod up from the ground. We still have boxes after 3 weeks. I haven't been able to take a day off, so picture frames are on the floor. As you can read, things are busy and crazy. When we get a computer fixed or buy a new one, I'll post some pictures and blog a bit more.

Boo Boo Birthday

Ali waited patiently for her first chocolate birthday cake. It was just a family celebration. She will have her 1st Birthday Party at the end of the month. Her zia Yaya left her a piƱata which Mika and Markus filled with candy. She had a stupendous time with her cake.
Two days before her birthday, she started walking. She thought it hilarious when she fell over.

If you enjoy the lake you may want to know...

that Rosie pooped in the Lake. It wasn't the kind that sinks; it was runny. We thought with all that swimming, running, playing, jumping, and pooping she would be tired. She continued to entertain us throughout the evening.
So next time you plan a trip to the Waxahachie Lake, you may want to ask us if Rosie has been out.
Enjoy the lake!

Kayaking Frenzy

Ali sat from afar while the beans enjoyed the day.
Mika did a super job on the kayak for her first time out on the 1man. She usually uses the green 2man kayak with mom. She managed to stay dry from the 62 degree water.
Dad and Markus had a challenge. Her name was Rosie. She didn't like it at first and she jumped out; she sank to the bottom. Dad jumped in and rescued her. It was Rosie's first time swimming. She did get the hang of it and could not get enough.

We had a great day at the lake and look forward to more sunny days this year!
